"An unexpectedly moving look into the creative life of an artist driven to transform our culture." - Montclair Film Festival
If you watched television, went to the movies, or listened to the radio in the 80s and 90s, you've probably heard Suzanne Ciani's work, whether you knew it or not.
A Life in Waves explores the life and innovations of Ciani, a composer and electronic music pioneer, from her earliest days learning the piano, to her multi-million dollar advertising ventures, her successes in the world of New Age music to her recent re-connection with her beloved Buchla synthesiser.
Marrying a wealth of archival footage with Ciani’s back catalogue, A Life in Waves offers a compelling look at one woman’s journey to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated art form.
We're delighted to announce a one off Q&A with Suzanne Ciani, via Skype on Friday 28 July hosted by journalist Lauren Martin. Regular screenings daily from Friday 28 July.
Lauren Martin is a London-based music journalist, working in editorial and radio, who focuses on underground electronic music.
Presented in partnership with Boiler Room
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO ADVERTS PLAYED BEFORE FILMS IN THE BERTHA DOCHOUSE SCREEN. ALL FEATURES WILL START PROMPTLY FOLLOWING A SELECTION OF TRAILERS.
DOCHOUSE'S PRODUCER AND PROGRAMMING MANAGER JENNY HORWELL SAYS...
Suzanne Ciani’s energy and enthusiasm is infectious, so watching A Life In Waves isn’t just fascinating (especially if, like me, you don’t know your Buchla synths from your Moogs), but also a really enjoyable and entertaining experience.
