Another chance to catch our masterclass with multi-award winning producer Simon Chinn.

Simon Chinn is a double Oscar-winning producer who is responsible for some of the most successful feature documentaries of recent years, known for their high production values, powerful narratives and innovative blending of documentary and fiction techniques.

He set up Red Box Films in 2005 to produce Man on Wire (Winner of BAFTA Outstanding British Film and the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature) followed by a string of award-winning feature documentaries including Project Nim, The Imposter, The Green Prince, Garnet’s Gold, Bolshoi Babylon and Searching for Sugar Man which also won a BAFTA and an Academy Award.

His latest film, Louis Theroux’s My Scientology Movie, is currently on release in the UK where it has grossed £1 million, making it one of the most successful feature docs ever in the UK. Simon launched Lightbox in 2014 with his LA-based cousin, Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn. Focused on high-end non-fiction for multiple platforms, Lightbox has completed projects for Xbox Studios, Netflix, Fusion, Channel 4, BBC2, FX, and ESPN’s 30 for 30 strand and is in production with a major doc on the LA Riots for National Geographic and a theatrical documentary on Whitney Houston, directed by Kevin Macdonald.
