Documentary filmmaker Álvaro Longoria is presented with a unique opportunity when he is invited to peek behind the iron curtain into the secretive state of North Korea. The notoriously closed country is an endless source of fascination for the West. For some, the nation is simply a joke, with the always well-combed Kim Jong-Un as its standard bearer and father figure, while for others it is a deadly serious human rights disaster.
On the invitation of Alejandro Cao de Benós, the only foreigner working for the Communist government, Longoria travels around the capital, Pyongyang, interviewing ordinary North Koreans. The result is a roller-coaster ride across confirmed and refuted prejudices, and across propaganda wars on both sides of the East Asian iron curtain.
