This is the story of the much-loved, cult sci-fi writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr, and it's also the story of his friendship with director Robert B. Weide, who has been trying make this film for 39 years.
After falling for Vonnegut through novels such as Slaughterhouse-Five, Cats Cradle and Breakfast of Champions, Weide wrote a letter asking him to be the subject of a documentary. Over the years, and then the decades, the collaboration became a friendship, which shines through in Unstuck in Time - finally completed over a decade after the author's death.
Weide's archive-rich film is a dazzling, time-travelling, funny and profound portrait; an entirely fitting tribute to the great author.
