French-Israeli filmmaker Michale Boganim sheds light on systematic discrimination against Arab Jews who migrated to Israel from North Africa and the Middle East in the 1950s.

The Mizrahim, as they are called, were denied their right to a better life. For Boganim, this is a personal story, as she follows the footsteps of her father, who travelled from Morocco to start a new life in Israel.

Experiencing such racism and discrimination, he quickly became a leader of the newly-formed Israeli Black Panthers, standing against the treatment of non-European Jews. Boganim travels through the forgotten lands of Israel’s periphery, uncovering an ignored history as she meets with three generations of Mizrahim.
