Inspired by the 2014 closure of Madame Jo Jo's, an adventurous music, night club and burlesque venue, Battle of Soho explores the gentrification within Soho and the cultural impact of redevelopment within London. Featuring contributions from Stephen Fry, Jenny Runacre, Lindsay Kemp, Peter Tatchell and a host of Soho glitterati, the film delves the consequences of redevelopment and the impending threats of closure on a multitude of London's iconic entertainment and social spaces.
Following campaigns, corporate interest, business owners and performers, Battle of Soho documents the poignant current and historic events that are contributing to this - what is named by many - cultural catastrophe.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Aro Korol hosted by Clare Lynch - editor of The Soho Clarion and presenter on Soho Radio
