On Wednesday the 6th of December we hosted a special Q&A with director Waad Al-Kateab. Hosted by DocHouse's Jasmine Haniff.

Director Waad Al-Kateab (For Sama) returns with this powerful story of freedom, following refugee athletes competing for a place in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Covering a range of backgrounds, personal stories and Olympic sports, We Dare to Dream shows their lives and aspirations as they prepare to compete on a global platform. But can they succeed in the face of adversity?

Al-Kateab’s storytelling explores the athletes’ profound struggles and fervent aspirations. She listens to competitors who have seen their dreams vanish, and accompanies them as they strive for greatness. The journey culminates at the summer Olympics, where they are cheered on by their communities, both old and new.

We Dare to Dream is a beautiful celebration of sport, painting a vivid picture of the courage and unyielding determination of these young athletes. It acts as a testament to the indomitable human spirit, and that much more than home can be found in the pursuit of a place to belong.
