This striking archive-footage film follows indigenous Canadians of the Haida Nation staging a peaceful but resolute blockade against a major logging company.

The 1985 stand-off – on a muddy logging road on Lyell Island, British Columbia – was a landmark act of peaceful resistance that sparked a national debate around indigenous land rights in Canada. Director Christopher Auchter – himself a member of the Haida Nation – draws on electrifying archival footage to tell a story of courage and quiet humanity in pursuit of land sovereignty and environmental justice.
