Hugely popular and quietly radical, Picture Post was Britain's best-selling magazine during WWII.
The first British magazine to emphasise pictures over words and to record the lives of ordinary people rather than the aristocracy, Picture Post helped to transform society and revolutionise the portrayal of ordinary British life.
Recognising its visionary editors and pioneering photographers, many of whom were themselves refugees, Picture Stories is the first doc to trace the life and legacy of the iconic Picture Post (1938 - 1957).
The screening on Friday 24th September was followed by a live Q&A with director Rob West, British scholar and literary translator Amanda Hopkinson and Professor of Modern Jewish History at University College London Michael Berkowitz. Hosted by journalist Carol Nahra.
