Pawel made the transition to fiction in 1998 with this 50 minute hybrid film, a lyrical love story set on a sink estate in Yorkshire, which he co-wrote and co-directed with Ian Duncan.
Trevor, played by a local boy, is a love-struck teenage criminal with a sideline in poetry, who tries to go straight in order to win the heart of his pregnant neighbour Amie.
Through its unique style and carefully composed shots, this part-improvised film captures the aspirations of teenage yearnings that transcend the desolate environment of neglect in which they live.
