A cinematic ode to our closest celestial companion, To The Moon draws on the power of cinematic montage to take the viewer on a beguiling night-walk through the moonlit imagination.
Director Tadhg O’Sullivan explores our relationship with the moon, its pull, its mystery and the multitude of meanings that we have projected onto it. Moving through tales of love, songs of longing, myths of madness, dreams of innocence and the nightmare of colonialism, he weaves together archive material from hundreds of films, with specially commissioned, original 16mm moonlit material filmed by cinematographers across five continents.
To The Moon steps lightly through the ages and ideas that people have drawn from the moon to meditate on our ever-present satellite, and life under its mysterious eye.
