Australian David Hicks, incarcerated in a cell in Guantamano Bay for over two years, has been refused access to a normal trial hearing, and has had no contact with any family members.
“And obviously we gave him the wrong advice, didn’t we?” retorts Bev, stepmother of Guantanamo Bay prisoner David Hicks, “because the next we heard he was on his way to Afghanistan to join the Taliban.”
This touching film follows Hicks’ father Terry as he traces his son’s journey through Pakistan and Afghanistan in an attempt to understand what led him to become a Taliban fighter. Addressing major political, moral and ethical issues, the film asks how an ordinary man like David Hicks can be labelled, in the words of George Bush, “a killer, who knows no country.”
