A celebration of film escapism, ignited by the discovery of a diary with meticulous records of a Hungarian factory worker's 2,158 cinema visits over 52 years.

In present-day Hungary, Danish filmmaker Ida Marie Gedbjerg Sørensen pores over the notebook and sets out to unravel its author’s profound passion. As she meets his now-adult children and grandchildren, she discovers a family divided by secrets and past traumas, but with a shared love of films – particularly action movies.

Using clips from the titles in the notebook, Sørensen illustrates the family members’ inner lives, drawing a sensitive portrait of three generations using cinema as an escape, a comfort and a common ground.
