A witty, access-all-areas peek into the life of Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum. Director Johannes Holzhausen, who has a background in art history ensures the centuries-old artworks come into their own on screen.

A museum is more than the sum of the artworks it houses and that becomes clear when one of the greatest museums in the world undergoes massive renovations. Through documenting the extensive refurbishment of the grand exhibition areas as well as the day to day work of running, restoring and cataloguing, we are introduced to a colourful range of employees – some with very strong opinions about the new direction the Kunsthistorisches is taking.

Director Johannes Holzhausen, has a background in art history and ensures the centuries-old artworks come into their own on screen. But it’s the passion felt by the staff at the Kunsthistorisches on a daily basis that fires the imagination and behind closed doors, brings every aspect of the museum to life.
