For centuries, the Laikipia region of Kenya has been a grazing route for indigenous farmers.

It is also home to white ranchers who settled there during British colonial rule, and stayed after Kenya’s independence in 1963. As ongoing drought ravages the grasslands of Laikipia, the stakes are raised in a generations-old conflict over access to the land that everyone needs to sustain their cattle.

Filmmakers Daphne Matziaraki and Peter Murimi set out to understand both sides of the fight, painting a complex and urgent picture of a region in turmoil.

The screening on Friday 4th October will be followed by a Q&A with directors Peter Murimi and Daphne Matziaraki.
