Christopher Reeve played the Man of Steel in four Superman films, becoming synonymous with the all-American superhero. This rich and moving portrait reveals Reeve to be every bit as courageous as the hero he played.
In 1995, in his mid-career, the father-of-three was injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Co-directors Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui (McQueen) chart Reeve’s story both before and after the accident, as he becomes a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries and an advocate for disability rights.
Interviewing his three now-adult children, as well as a raft of friends including Susan Sarandon and Glenn Close about his life, loves, career and activism, Super/Man is a moving and cinematic telling of Reeve’s remarkable story.
