From the opening scene - David Byrne emerging onto an empty stage, boom box in hand, introducing Psycho Killer - Stop Making Sense captures Talking Heads in sublime, energetic form on stage in LA in 1983.

Talking Heads were already a post-punk powerhouse before Jonathan Demme’s fabled 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense helped make the band pop-culture legend.

This euphoric concert film transcends that all-too-limited genre to become one of the greatest films of its kind. Fuelled by the polyrhythmic pop-funk precision that was a Talking Heads trademark, the band are captured in sublime, energetic form on stage in LA. From the opening scene – David Byrne emerging onto an empty stage, boom box in hand, introducing Psycho Killer – to the ever-growing grey suit, what emerges on screen says as much about the director’s taste and sensitivity as it does about the group and its visionary leader.

The end result is a resounding testament to the band’s talent and sense of humour, lit from within with such energy that it virtually explodes from the screen.
