One World Media presents Fresh Eyes on the World – a screening of short documentary films by emerging talent, in partnership with Bertha DocHouse.
Join us for this showcase of new work from One World Media’s 2016 bursary winners. A series of untold stories from the wider world produced and directed by young talent who received a One World Media international reporting grant. These eye-opening stories will introduce you to people around the world that highlight our common humanity.
Stories range from a transgender couple in Ecuador having their first child and young Oromo students having to flee Ethiopia for fear of persecution. To the story of an MP and a Rastafarian priest fighting for hemp legalisation in Malawi and the forensic nurses of South Africa fighting sex crimes in Johannesburg.
One World Media is a non-profit organisation which supports international journalism and promotes media coverage of global issues. For over 25 years they have been working with partners in the UK and internationally to enable media that informs and connects the world’s people. Their production fund encourages young filmmakers to think big and to think globally by funding new stories from and about the developing world. Their annual awards celebrate the best media coverage of the wider world and our events connect new talent to the industry’s decision-makers.
