More than 30,000 people have been killed over the last ten years in Colombia’s bloody civil conflict, in which left-wing guerrillas’ fight against the government and illegal right-wing paramilitary groups. Recently, as guerrillas and paramilitaries sought to control the barrios, urban gangs were brought into the conflict . And so a brutal turf war developed with adjacent barrios fighting against each other.
