Over the course of five years, director Mia Ma films her friend Julie, as she works towards her future and tries to find a way to live with schizophrenia.

In the years since her diagnosis, Julie has faced all kinds of treatments from electroshock therapy to exorcism, and the French healthcare system deem her ‘80% mentally disabled’. But to Mia, and through Mia’s intimate lens, Julie is neither a diagnosis nor a victim. Julie is a precious friend, a survivor, a sensitive soul.

Julie On Line is a rare film infused with beauty and love, within the messy reality of human existence and mental illness.

This screening will be followed by a Zoom Q&A with director Mia Ma.
