A complex power structure governs the lives of Dalit poppy farmers in India, who are caught between the corruption of government officials and the lure of the black market.
While Vardibai responds with hard graft nurturing her poppy field, her son Mangilal chooses a path of resistance and campaigning. As authorities strike back at their lower-caste family, they must choose between keeping food on the table and standing up for what’s right.
