The film explores life for Gary and his Numanoid family as they as they unpack their new home in California.

“Polished and slickly packaged… Numan is winningly candid and guilelessly charming” – Variety

37 years after Are Friends Electric, the “Godfather of electro” Gary Numan returns to the studio to work on a new album, Splinter – his first in years. Uprooting himself and his family away from his extravagant home in East Sussex to record in LA, Numan wrestles with his personal demons in order to keep his creative fires burning.

Through candid interviews with Numan, his wife Gemma, and his children and colleagues, Android in La La Land explores the music legend’s hidden anxieties: from his battles with Asperger’s syndrome, depression, and near-bankruptcy, to his fears of creative stasis and his drive to keep his music at the cutting edge.
