Sara Shahverdi is the first woman to be elected to the council of her Iranian village.

An indomitable, motorcycle-riding divorcee, Sara doesn’t seem to fit the mould, as she sets about effecting change and breaking long-held patriarchal traditions: stopping child marriages, fighting for women’s right to own property, and teaching teenage girls to ride motorcycles in the name of empowerment.

But as Sara’s influence grows, so does suspicion of her motives. Her intentions are questioned and her identity is put in turmoil. Filmmakers Sara Khaki & Mohammadreza Eyni have crafted a quietly powerful film about values and courage with an irrepressible changemaker at its heart.
