Art and Craft starts out as a cat-and-mouse art caper, rooted in questions of authenticity and forgery—but what emerges is an intimate story of obsession.

“Captivating… One of the largest and most unique deceptions the art world has ever seen.” – The Daily Beast

The film follows Mark Landis, a quietly spoken recluse who is one of the most prolific art forgers in US history. His impressive body of work spans thirty years and ranges from 15th Century Icons to Picasso and even Walt Disney.

But he isn’t in it for the money. Posing as a philanthropic donor, a mourning relative or a Jesuit priest, he has given away hundreds of works to a staggering list of institutions across the United States. But after duping Matthew Leininger, Landis meets his match. Equally obsessed, Leininger sets out to expose Landis and his forgeries to the world.
