On November 23rd 2012 Jordan Davis and his friends pulled into a gas station. 3 ½ minutes later, ten shots rang out. We later learn that Michael Dunn had fired at a car full of unarmed teenagers and then fled. Three of those bullets hit 17-year-old Jordan Davis, who died at the scene. Arrested the next day, Dunn claimed he shot in self-defence thus beginning a long journey to unravel the truth.
3 1⁄2 Minutes, Ten Bullets follows that journey, reconstructing the night of the murder and revealing how hidden prejudice can result in tragedy.
Director Marc Silver (Who is Dayani Cristal?), intercuts exclusive footage from inside the court room with intimate scenes of Jordan’s parents during the trial. With access to police interrogation footage, prison phone recordings and interviews with others at the petrol station that night, Silver constructs a powerful story about the devastating effects of racial bias, and the search for justice within the judicial system.
