An intimate portrait of three courageous female wrestlers (Luchadoras) from Ciudad Juarez. Despite being surrounded by machismo they redefine the image of women in Mexico.

A cinematic portrait of female wrestlers in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Luchadoras follows three women who are fighters outside the ring as well as in, against the backdrop of an impoverished border city notorious for violence against women.

The short statured Mini Serinita’s dream is to become a full time Luchadora and leave the factory work that disenfranchises so many women in her city. Lady Candy can see the U.S Border from her house, but due to visa regulations she can’t cross over to Texas to see her children there. Baby Star is a young single mother with a Lucha Libre childhood past – and she’s looking to make a comeback.

This compelling, multi-layered film balances the struggle for women in a society pitted against them, with three courageous characters fighting for the lives they dream of.
