'In Chile, when the sun rises, it had to climb hills, walls and tops before reaching the last stone of the Cordillera. In my country, the Cordillera is everywhere. But for the Chilean citizens, it is an unknown territory. After going North for Nostalgia for the Light and South for The Pearl Button, I now feel ready to shoot this immense spine to explore its mysteries, powerful revelations of Chile's past and present history.' Patricio Guzmán

Master Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzmán sets out on a journey through the mountains, his narration accompanying elegant aerial shots of the mountain panorama. But his Andes are not just an impassive mountain range: the journey along its peaks also serves as a reconstruction of Chile’s history and an attempt at finding lost memory.

With The Cordillera of Dreams, Guzmán continues a lifetime of work chronicling his country's contemporary history, and completes the trilogy of films he began in 2010 with Nostalgia for the Light. Having lived outside of Chile for 46 years, since the coup d'état that established Pinochet's dictatorship, he returns to his homeland to unlock the secrets of the Cordillera, and wrestle with the ongoing legacy of the regime on the country.

Playing as part of the Patricio Guzmán Chile Trilogy: Traverse time, history and memory through the landscapes of Chile with Nostalgia for the Light (2010), The Pearl Button (2015) and The Cordillera of Dreams (2019), which finally reaches our screen this October.
