Details
This timely film follows three doctors from very different backgrounds who travel to Gaza to volunteer in hospitals overwhelmed by war.
Working amid bombardment, severe medical shortages and constant danger, the three doctors – Palestinian American emergency physician Thaer Ahmad, Jewish American orthopedic surgeon Mark Perlmutter and Zoroastrian trauma surgeon Feroze Sidhwa – bear witness to the devastating impact of the conflict on Gaza’s hospitals in particular.
When they return, they are compelled to fight for the patients and colleagues they left behind, taking their battle from the front lines to the halls of Congress, and challenging prevailing media narrative from their first hand position.
Filmed on the ground in Gaza and back in the US, AMERICAN DOCTOR is a deeply human portrait of courage, compassion and moral responsibility.
