When thousands of dead crabs wash ashore in a small North East fishing town, fisherman Stan Rennie becomes the unlikeliest of activists, in a grassroots fight for answers and a future.
Stan has worked this stretch of coastline, where the river meets the sea, for over fifty years. So when a vast tide of poisoned crabs, lobster and shellfish washes onto the beach, and officials seem unable or unwilling to establish a cause, Stan finds himself thrown into battle: the unlikely figurehead of the campaign to uncover the truth about the die-off.
Directed by Teessider Jeanie Finlay, this is a wry, David and Goliath story about navigating through grief and finding power in community, rich with Stan’s own brand of heart, determination and gallows humour.
