Beneath the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip lies a hidden world - thousands of homeless people struggling to survive in a vast network of dark, unsanitary tunnels.

Directed by French film historian and critic Jean-Baptiste Thoret, The Neon People leads us into this forgotten underworld, focusing on a small group of people who call it home. As we get to know them, we see not just the dangerous living conditions, and the cycles that keep them underground, but an inrepressable hope for a better future.

Filmed two decades after Marc Singer’s Dark Days, the increasing discrepancy between those who ‘make it’ and those who slip between the cracks is poignantly observed here, in the neon glow below the consumerist playground of Vegas.
