Germany’s fiercely anti-immigrant, nationalist, far-right Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) party is surging in popularity and could be on the brink of power at the state and even the national level.
With access to some of the party’s most influential officials, domestic intelligence, extremism experts and analysts, The Rise of Germany’s New Right reveals the reasons for this surge: how the far right is deliberately dominating social media to convince young people to vote for them; the party’s increasing use of AI to generate fear mongering anti-migrant videos; a secret Russian disinformation campaign and the impact of newly vocal support for the AfD and Europe’s far right by the Trump Administration.
