Pulitzer Prize-winning Irish photojournalist Cathal McNaughton quit 'the best job in the world' at the peak of his career aged just 40.

As chief photographer for Reuters in India, McNaughton travelled extensively in Asia covering news stories of world importance. His photographs of exiled Rohingya Muslims secured him the Pulitzer Prize for Photography in 2018, but bearing witness to many of the world’s most harrowing scenes took its toll, and his obsession with his art drove him away from his family. As he rebuilds personal relationships far from the adrenaline-filled front line, he is challenged by the demons of his past.

I Dream in Photos explores Cathal’s 25-year body of work and reflects on the role of photojournalism in a world saturated by social media.

The screening on Friday the 4th of April was followed by a Q&A with Cathal McNaughton and director Gary Lennon. Hosted by academic Karen Shook.
