In the lush forests of the Eastern Himalayas, moths are whispering something to us. In the dark of night, two curious observers illuminate this secret universe.
A wondrously immersive viewing experience of sound and imagery, Nocturenes follows two biologists as they meticulously map the forest’s population of hawk moths. Night after night, they put up their light screen, attracting hundreds of moths for them to observe, measure and record, with patient anticipation and wonder.
Together, they are on an expedition to decode these nocturnal creatures. The result is a transporting film that urges us all to look more closely at the hidden interconnections of the natural world.
