In 2007, Reyhaneh Jabbari, 19, is charged with murder in Iran, for killing a man who tried to rape her. She pleads self-defence and takes her case to court, but the system does not operate in her favour. Reyhaneh is sentenced to death.
Using secretly recorded videos provided by Reyhaneh’s family and the beautiful, evocative letters she wrote in prison, Seven Winters in Tehran retraces her case, highlighting the dignity of the condemned woman and the family who never stopped fighting for her.
