A museum is more than the sum of the artworks it houses and that becomes clear when one of the greatest museums in the world undergoes massive renovations. Through documenting the extensive refurbishment of the grand exhibition areas as well as the day to day work of running, restoring and cataloguing, we are introduced to a colourful range of employees – some with very strong opinions about the new direction the Kunsthistorisches is taking.
Director Johannes Holzhausen, has a background in art history and ensures the centuries-old artworks come into their own on screen.
