McAllister focuses on Steve Arnott, a Hull local following his dream to bring hip-hop to the city’s youth by providing accessible recording equipment and confidence-building workshops to primary schools across the city. Whilst giving some of Hull’s most disadvantaged kids opportunities he never had, Steve must continue with the daily hustle of working in a warehouse to provide for his family. A heroic tale facing reality, the film becomes a state of the nation snapshot of England under austerity measures and the uncertainty of Brexit that ultimately proves the power of openness, generosity, and community spirit.
