Since 2001's 'Lift', Marc Isaacs has made a host of creative documentaries that centre around his ability to make meaningful connections with ordinary people from behind his camera.

Whatever your previous filmmaking experience, getting out of lockdown and into the world and meeting subjects can be daunting.

Marc kicks off our series of masterclasses by focusing on filming whilst meeting and interacting with real people, drawing out interesting responses and tips for interviewing from behind the camera.

After the workshop Marc joined us for a Q&A to answer questions.

Marc Isaacs has made over twenty films for the BBC, Channel 4, international film festivals and cinema. He has won BAFTA’s, Royal Television Society and Grierson awards and numerous festival prizes. Isaacs’ has had retrospectives in France, Israel and the UK and Second Run recently released a box set of his complete film works.

His latest film, THE FILMMAKER'S HOUSE, will be released this Autumn. Isaacs has recently been appointed as an Associate Professor to run the Masters in Ethnographic and Documentary Film at University College London.
