On Thursday the 11th of August, co-director Mike Attie and guests discussed the implications of the supreme court decision, as well as the global picture for abortion rights.

The conversation was hosted by Corrinan Antrobus, film critic, Hackney council culture manager and founder of London feminist film collective, Bedchel Test Fest.

About the speakers:

Mike Attie is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has screened at major international film festivals including CPH:DOX, Hot Docs, San Francisco and Sundance. He is an associate professor of Film at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

Marah Lange (she/her) has been with the Abortion Liberation Fund of Pennsylvania since 2016. She is a social worker by training and acts as Director of Client Services, overseeing the help line featured in Abortion Helpline, This is Lisa.

Mara Clarke is the founder and director of Abortion Support Network. She started her abortion activism in the US with a NY based abortion fund and established the first abortion fund in Europe. Thirteen years later, there are now a handful of abortion funds in Europe, most of which have joined forces as part of the Abortion Without Borders initiative, working together to help people access abortions, whether self managed with pills at home or abroad in clinics. Like most abortion activists, Mara can’t wait for the day when there is free, safe, legal, local, accessible abortions for all who need them.

Cecilia Espinoza, Associate Director for Access, Ipas, (she/her) is a Nicaraguan feminist and social worker with an MA in Gender and Development. She has worked for more than fifteen years as an activist and advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights for women and young people. Currently, Cecilia works as Associate Director for Access at Ipas leading Ipas advocacy and policy work. Prior joining Ipas, Cecilia served in different technical positions at UNIFEM, UNDP, Oxfam and Ipas Central America, where she helped promote human and reproductive rights for women and young people on a national, regional and global level.
