Coinciding with the release of his latest film, I Am Belfast, we welcome one of the truly unique voices in cinema for an exclusive masterclass featuring clips and in-depth discussion with Mark on his work to date.

Prolific director, critic and cinephile Mark Cousins has seen his work screened around the world, including Cannes and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He writes regularly on cinema, has orchestrated travelling film festivals through the Scottish Highlands with actress Tilda Swinton and is Honorary Professor of Film at the University of Glasgow.

In 2011, Cousins directed and presented The Story of Film: An Odyssey - an epic 15 hour review of the history of international filmmaking. Since then, time and again his filmmaking has focussed evocatively on place and history with credits including Here Be Dragons, A Story of Children and Film and The First Movie.

At the same time, Cousins' deep and broad appreciation of film and the arts comes through in the wealth of references and allusions woven through his beautifully intertextual and personal films.

The masterclass will be hosted by writer and broadcaster Danny Leigh, the co-host of BBC One's Film Programme.
