The life and work of comedian, writer and civil rights activist Dick Gregory is brought to the screen in IMPACT, featuring an extraordinary and wide-ranging conversation with Gregory himself.

Razor-sharp satirist, writer and civil rights activist Dick Gregory changed comedy in the US. Breaking through in the early 1960s, Gregory was the first black comedian to cross the colour line and perform in front of white audiences, and never stopped railing against racism and social inequality. In IMPACT – Dick Gregory, director Jordan Stone brings Gregory’s life and work to the screen where the comedian reflects on a lifetime of comedy performance and activism, and on the way the country around him has been shaped and affected by history.

Adding to the conversation, three luminaries share their memories of Gregory and his huge cultural impact: actor/activist Jane Fonda, actor Clarke Peters and director Ernest Dickerson, creating an intimate and insightful tribute to a man who asks ‘Why did the universe pick me to change things?’ Winner of the Best Director Award at The People’s Film Festival 2022 Harlem, NY .
