Hostile is an exceptionally timely and vital look at the UK's complicated relationship with its migrant communities, and the evolution of the 'hostile environment'.

Director Sonita Gale follows the stories of everyday people affected by the UK's hostile policies, from members of the Windrush generation to international students and 'Highly-Skilled Migrants', weaving in her own family history too.

Alongside these often unheard stories of people caught up in the system, this heartfelt film traces the development of law and policy over the past 50 years, creating a powerful document of the UK today, and the direction in which we may be headed.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Sonia Gale

The Bertha DocHouse screen is currently operating at 80% of its seating capacity. This means you will never be in a screening where every seat is occupied, and if, after the film has begun, you would be more comfortable in another unoccupied seat, you are welcome to move.

We appreciate you being considerate of your fellow audience members and masks are encouraged. Happy viewing!
