The story behind Invictus, from award-winning director Connie Field. Fair Play tells the story of the athletes and activists who pushed South Africa's apartheid-era teams out of international sporting competitions, helping to bring the human rights crisis in South Africa to the forefront of global attention. The story is especially timely on the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release and as the world turns its attention to South Africa for the World Cup this year. Fair Play highlights solidarity campaigns and sports boycotts in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and features exclusive interviews with the late Dennis Brutus, a brilliant South African freedom fighter, poet and driving force behind the boycott.
A Q&A with Trevor Richards, founder of HART in New Zealand, which campaigned against New Zealand sporting links with South Africa, will follow the film.
Fair Play is part of the series 'Have you heard from Johannesburg', a global engagement campaign about citizens' movements for human rights.
