Bertha DocHouse is turning 5! That's 5 years since we opened the screen doors with a year-round programme of glorious nonfiction cinema. All genres, all subjects - from the topical to the avant-garde; from the historical to the out-of-this-world.
We want to say a big thank you to our audience for showing up, rain or shine, throughout the last five years.
So in the spirit of supporting new talent, we're kicking off a month of birthday celebrations. We're joining forces with London Documentary Network to present a DocHouse edition of the 36-hour film challenge, Doc In A Day!
Contestants will be invited to gather at 10.30am on Saturday 21st March to network and create teams. Then at 11.30am, we’ll announce a theme (also published on Twitter and Facebook) and you will have until 11pm on Sunday to shoot, edit and send us your film!
We’re excited to run this event as part of our 5th birthday celebrations, because supporting the next generation of emerging documentarians is a huge part of what we do, and we want you to have the chance to try your hand at non-fiction filmmaking in our hallowed cinema.
Come along on Sunday 29th to find out just how much can be achieved with 36 hours, basic filmmaking kit and a tonne of chutzpah. Then it's down to our panel of experts to offer their feedback on the results before the winning film is announced.
Then upstairs for Birthday drinks in the bar!
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO ADVERTS PLAYED BEFORE FILMS IN THE BERTHA DOCHOUSE SCREEN. ALL FEATURES WILL START PROMPTLY FOLLOWING A SELECTION OF TRAILERS.
