It started off “like a nutty play date”: Flynn McGarry’s mother indulged his love of fancy cooking by letting the eleven year old run a pop up restaurant from her front room in California, staffed by his friends. Soon Flynn’s huge talent catches the attention of the media, turning him into a national phenomenon. Eschewing high school to focus on his passion, the teenage Flynn is now bossing around adults as he guest chefs in some of America’s best restaurants. As his mother struggles to manage his success - at the cost of her own career as a filmmaker - they are both conscious of the fact that his every move is tracked by an often nasty online world. Cameron Yates follows Flynn and his mother as the pressures mount, and the young chef pins his sights on his ultimate dream: running a restaurant in New York City.
The screening on Mon 18 Feb will be preceded by an extended intro with the film's director Cameron Yates.
