Having written many definitive books on documentary, Brian will discuss his new film, a controversial expose of the films of Robert Flaherty. Considered the 'father of documentary' Flaherty transformed films observing 'real' people, from shapeless surveillance into dramatic narrative.

Although accused of being a neo-colonial romantic, many think him a genius, credited with discovering of a new way of making documentaries. The film investigates Flaherty's legacy though archive and interviews with participants, from Nanook, Man of Aran, and Louisiana Story.
