Deep in the forests of Northwest Italy, a select group of joyful, if cantankerous, old men hunt for the world’s most expensive ingredient: the white Alba truffle.

The ageing hunters are guided by a secret culture and training passed down through generations, as well as by the noses of their cherished and expertly trained dogs.

Demand for this rare and much coveted, pungent ingredient increases year after year, but with dwindling supplies, competition amongst hunters has grown fiercer, and danger lurks in the forests. The old experts keep their cards close to their chests, venturing out at night by torchlight to protect the secrets of the best hunting grounds.

This real-life fairy tale celebrates human passion in a community struggling to protect its fragile land and a way of life forgotten in time.
