A moose sits chewing in the snowy woods, sunlight shimmers on a buffalo, steam rolls over a spectacular geyser. In sublime landscapes, philosopher David Abram questions the connection between humans and nature.

“So many things come awake at night, when us two-leggeds usually go to sleep,” remarks philosopher David Abram in this collaboration with filmmakers Emma Davie and Peter Mettler to be all ears, eyes, and senses for their surroundings. Based on Abram’s book by the same name, we head into Wyoming’s stunning wilderness to observe the nature of perception.

Becoming Animal explores how disconnected we have become from our instinctive, sensory roots and suggests that technology is not only mimicking our ancient relationship with nature, but is also acting as a barrier between us. Could a film capture an act of transcendentalism?
