Recently restored by the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Centre, In Spring is a masterpiece of Ukrainian avant-garde cinema. Mikhail Kaufman, Dziga Vertov’s brother and regular collaborator, made the film after a disagreement with Vertov about their filmmaking process. In 1929, armed with his camera and his own philosophy on reflecting on life, Kaufman crafted this visionary cinematic essay pushing the boundaries of Revolutionary filmmaking.
Q&A with Stanislav Menzelevskyi, Head of Research and Programming Department, Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre, who was involved in the recent restoration of In Spring, and hosted by Professor Ian Christie. Watch it in full online here.
