Field of Vision is a filmmaker-driven documentary unit that commissions and creates short-form nonfiction films about developing and ongoing stories around the globe. Launched in 2015 by Academy Award-winning director Laura Poitras, filmmaker AJ Schnack and programmer Charlotte Cook and inspired by the creative potential of visual journalism, the trio produces cinematic work that tells the stories of our world from new perspectives.

Donald Trump has become a beloved cult figure for many Russians. Our New President uses found footage, fake news and state-controlled political programming to reveal the variety of ways Trump's newfound Russian supporters express their devotion.
THE MODERATORS (Dir. Adrian Chen and Ciaran Cassidy, 20')
In an office in India, a cadre of Internet moderators ensures that social media sites are not taken over by bots, scammers, and pornographers. The Moderators shows the humans behind content moderation, taking viewers into the training process that workers go through in order to become social media’s monitors.

Since taking office last June, President Rodrigo Duterte has been waging a deadly anti-drug campaign. In the past year, police and vigilantes have reportedly killed over 7,000 people suspected of participating in the drug trade.
MONUMENTO (Dir. Laura Gabbert, 12')
At Friendship Park, a unique meeting place along the US–Mexico border, family members and loved ones from both countries can see and speak to each other through a meshed fence, but they cannot touch.
