Nick Broomfield: SOLDIER GIRLS

Part of the Nick Broomfield Retrospective
Dir: Nick Broomfield & Joan Churchill
United States / United Kingdom / 1981 / 87mins

Co-directed with Joan Churchill, Soldier Girls follows a platoon of women undergoing basic training at Fort Worth, Georgia.

The women have all joined for different reasons and while some are dedicated to defending their country, others seem to have had no other option. Under the guidance of their hard line drill sergeants, the women take their first steps into their new roles in the US military.

Ahead of the release of legendary documentarian Nick Broomfield’s latest film, Whitney ‘Can I Be Me’, we’re giving you the chance to revisit some of his most iconic docs in this DocHouse retrospective. More details here.
